Don’t get scammed buying hot dogs in the streets of NYC. They’re worth $1, not $8! Stands usually don’t display prices and charge people depending on their accent. Ask for the price before you order and request a $1 hot dog. If they refuse, walk a few feet to the next stand

If you have a smartphone, download MTA subway map. It will help you a lot. Note that there’s usually no service in NYC subway, unless you’re taking an outside train
